Our
Beliefs

Our Mission & Vision

Hope and Life was founded on two key principles…
Healing and Evangelism.

HEALING

To see people healed spiritually, physically, and emotionally by the Power of God.
At Hope and Life we understand that God has called us to a life of happiness and health. We have a firm commitment to see every individual healed of any ailment that might be keeping them from living a fulfilled life through Christ. (Jeremiah 33:6 NIV)

EVANGELISM

To win the lost at any cost.
We believe that Hope and Life must be faithful to the continually changing context of the culture, always varying our methods but never changing our message. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23) NIV

What we believe.

GOD

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, 26-27, Genesis 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19)

JESUS

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22-23, John 1:1-5, John 14:10-31,Romans 1:4)

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily. (II Corinthians 3:17, John 16:7-13, Ephesians 5:18, John 14:17)

THE BIBLE

The Bible is God’s word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspires it, it is the truth without error. The Bible was not written only to educate us, but to change our lives. (Psalm 119:19, II Timothy 3:16)

ETERNITY

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. (John 3:16, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:17-18, Revelation 20:15)

SALVATION

We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human effort. Because of sin every person is in need of salvation from God. When we accept salvation we are born again by the power of the Holy Spirit. (John 3:3-18; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5)

BAPTISM

Following faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the new convert is commanded by the Word of God to be baptized in water in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and Jesus’ name. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38)

BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

Given at Pentecost, it is the promise of Jesus Christ, sent by the Father, to empower the Church to be a witness to the Gospel throughout the whole earth. One of the signs of baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in other tongues, along with various other gifts. (Matthew 3:11; Mark 16:17; Acts 1:5, 2:1-4, 17, 38-39, 8:14-17, 10:38, 44-47, 11:15-17, 19:1-6)

DIVINE HEALING

Divine healing is illustrated in the life and ministry of Jesus and included in the commission of Jesus to His disciples. It is given as a sign, which is to fellow believers. It is also a part of Jesus’ work on the cross and one of the gifts of the Spirit. (Psalm 103:2-3; Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:16-17; Mark 16:17-18; Acts 8:6-7; James 5:14-16)

SECOND COMING

The second coming of Christ includes the rapture of the saints which is our blessed hope, followed by the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on earth for one thousand years. (Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 24:27,30; Revelation 1:7, 19:11-14, 20:1-6)

OUR ACCOUNTABILITY

A Church without accountability is not an apostolic Church, and we believe in the apostolic and the importance of accountability for our church, our pastors and our leadership.

Jesus required accountable relationships when He told His disciples to go and make new disciples “teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:20). Another biblical truth that teaches accountability for Christians is the fact that (in the Church), we are members of one another (Romans 12:5). We do not “live for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone” (Romans 14:7). The call for mutual care and accountability, as well as the structure of leadership, taught in the New Testament, assume accountable relationships.

With that being said, we believe in our accountability as a church, as pastors and as members of the body of Christ.  Hope and Life, as well as Pastors Tony and Gwen and our leadership are accountable to a board of Elders, a board of Pastoral and ministerial peers, and CIC, Church’s in Covenant based out of Carrolton Texas under the direction of Pastors Mike and Kathy Hayes.  Pastor Tony holds his ministerial credentials through the Church of God based out of Cleveland, TN.

We believe in accountability and it’s essential role in our church for our Pastors and for our leadership.  We submit ourselves to our brothers and sisters in Christ, our peers and mentors in Christ, our spiritual Pastor’s and to the highest authority, Jesus Christ.
